People buy nonfiction books to learn something or to solve a problem. Authors write from accumulated knowledge and thorough research. Authors are ‘committing history’ because their writing will be repeated by researchers who follow. Authors have a responsibility to be accurate. Excellent advice–follow a fact back to its origin to make sure it is the truth! Stop perpetuating myths. This is the writer’s job/responsibility.
