I just started the? WRITING of a new history. I know the plot g? N? Eral and characters that I do, but before I get too far, let me hold her so easy? Continued. What kind of questions should I r? Lay about the book / characters before I continue? Up? pr? feel I have the initial registration sc? do the r? adjuster, p? riod, the number of characters? res, character relationships? re? another, of characters? re, hair / eye color. . . can anyone give me more? through the list of questions? Thank you!
- How can describe my characters other than the colour of their hair and eyes?
- What is the plot?
- Who is the protagonist, antagonist, main?
- What relations do my characters have outside the main plot?
- What is happening, and why?
- Why did I choose this time period?
- What is the story’s genre?
It’s a good choice to layout the main body of your book… I can help more if I could read what you’ve got written.
This is what I do:
I draw up like a table with different columns for my characters, with headings like ambition, hobbies, pet peeves, etc. This will help you understand different aspects of your characters, and make them more solid.
Also, you could ask What are the characters that are not in the current scene doing at the time? This helps me start a simultaneous sub-plot for said characters which could later increase the suspense or whatever.
It’s always a good idea to write up a solid paragraph or so on each of your characters. You should know everything about them, even things that would never come into the story.
Remember that there’s only one main plot line…the one that leads into the climax. But remember that every story has one main plot line, and several other sub-plot lines. This includes what happens to the relationships the character is in, what is the character going through internally (this should have something to do with one of the character’s personal flaws), any other action that happens on the side. You should know these sub-plot lines…don’t make it too complicated. Just plan it in a small paragraph:
“Character A has trouble admitting her feelings for Character B and as a result Character B goes out and meets Character C, a charming, yet dull woman. Character A gets jealous and sabotages Character C’s relationship with Character B so she can have him all to herself. For this, Character B gets angry at her, which forces her to reveal her true feelings……yada yada”
But remember that all these sub-plot lines happen all at once in a story, so while this is happening to the character, she’ll prolly be going through something else that makes her life even harder.
It’s the Main Character and the Plot that you need to worry about. If you believe you have the main character down, and you’re plot has a beginning, middle, and end. It should be safe to start your story. Sometimes when you write, your character goes in a different direction then you planned…if she’s reacting in a way you hadn’t planned, just let it go. That means that she’s come to life and is making her own choices. As long as the character still ends up at the point you planned for the middle and end, then you should be good to go.
I think at first you should make a timeline, a family tree for the characters for background and later use.
So at first think what genre do you want to go into and what plot.
Is there one setting or multiple ones. Make a scene of a setting to help you find the words to describe that setting(a visual piece can help while writing.)
Who do you make do what-so who will be the most used character and only chose one to describe that feeling-if you went she was scared, he was frightened it ruins a story.
How many characters will have a story?-just make a huge storyline for one character but underline that with the actual plot.
